For Sam.
For Music.
For Service.
Built To
Carry It
Forward.
Founded in honor of Sam Sherman, The Sam Sherman Music Foundation was created to help military-connected individuals pursue meaningful futures in music.
Music has the power to create purpose, connection, healing, identity, and opportunity. Our goal is to support veterans, service members, and military families as they pursue careers and education in music-related fields — through financial assistance, creative support, and community-driven initiatives.
The foundation was built not only to honor Sam's legacy, but to help others move forward loudly, creatively, and unapologetically through music.

Remembering
Sam Sherman.
His Story
Service. Music. Loyalty.
Loudly.
Sam Sherman served six years in the United States Army as an Intelligence Analyst—a role that demanded discipline, integrity, and quiet dedication. He carried those values with him long after his military service ended. The friendships he built in uniform became lifelong bonds, and the commitment he made to the people beside him shaped the way he approached every part of his life.
After leaving the Army, Sam followed another calling: music.
In 2018, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he built a career as a professional drummer, bandleader, and tour manager. He performed on Broadway, toured across more than half of the United States with country and rock artists, and became known for his reliability, leadership, and unmistakable energy behind the drum kit. Whether he was loading trailers at 6 a.m., leading a band through a difficult show, or stepping on stage in front of thousands of people, Sam showed up with the same work ethic and commitment he had learned in the military.
But the people who knew Sam best will tell you that his greatest gift wasn't his musicianship—it was the way he made people feel. He was the first person to answer a late-night phone call, the friend who would do anything for the people he loved, and someone who welcomed others without judgment. Sam lived unapologetically—fully himself in every room he walked into. His humor was constant, his laugh contagious, and his kindness often showed up in the quiet moments when no one else was paying attention.
As a military child who proudly called Virginia home, Sam carried a deep appreciation for service, community, and the people who stood beside him. He believed in working hard, growing every day, and leaving things better than he found them. Music became the place where he could express what words sometimes couldn't.
Like many veterans, Sam also carried struggles that weren't always visible. In 2025, he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Despite seeking treatment and doing everything he could to recover, Sam lost his battle with mental illness on March 30, 2026.
The Sam Sherman Music Foundation exists to honor the life he lived—not by focusing on how it ended, but by continuing what mattered most to him: serving others, building community, and helping military-connected musicians discover opportunities, purpose, and hope through music.

Mental Health Is
Part Of Sam's Story.
Sam was deeply loved, and he loved deeply in return. He also faced mental health challenges that many of us never fully saw. On March 30, 2026, he died after a long, private struggle with bipolar disorder.
Mental health doesn't care about uniforms, talent, or how big your heart is. Veterans carry weight the rest of us can't always measure. Sam carried his with grace for as long as he could.
We are not going to be quiet about that. We are going to talk about it, fund the work that helps, and make sure the next person like Sam has more reasons to stay.
If You Are Struggling — Reach Out.
Carry It Forward.
Every grant, every instrument, every stage we help a military-connected musician reach is for him.
